The county of Norfolk is bordered by Haldimand County to the east, Elgin County to the west, Oxford County to the northwest, Brant County to the north, and the Six Nations Reserve to the northeast. The south border of the County runs along the shore of Lake Erie.

Norfolk County has a very rich agricultural heritage, due to the fact that its soil is part of the most fertile land in Ontario. Major crops have consisted of wheat, corn, oats, tobacco, fruits and vegetables, lavender, ginseng, hazelnuts, and wolfberries. Tourism is also an important contributor to the economy, with summer resorts in Port Dover, Port Ryerse, Normandale, Fisher's Glen, Turkey Point, and Port Rowan playing a part in attracting many summer visitors. Long Point Provincial Park is also a significant natural attraction, located on 40 kilometers of land projecting into Lake Erie.
